This evening we had tickets to see a Tango show. Dinner, wine and a show? Sign me up! I've always loved the tango - in True Lies, in Scent of a Woman, in Mr & Mrs Smith...it's dramatic, romantic, powerful, and, if when danced, passionate. It's all about sex, not sex, too much sex, and no sex. It's titillating and scornful at the same time. Frankly, it's a woman...sexy and willing, but petulant, then assenting. I just love it.
I was not disappointed this evening. Oh, first a couple of pictures I took on the way to the show:

sunset
the opera house
wanted to have a tour, but ran out of time... Next time!
Hard to see, but Evita is plastered on the side of this tower
And, their obelisk - much like the one in Washington DC
Beautiful decorations in the theatre

Yeah, it's definitely going on our mantle.
We had a fabulous dinner of...guess what? steak! But first some empanadas...so spicy and delicious!
I ate every bite!
This is the "Baby Steak" Baby, my ass!
it was huge!!! I could only eat about half of it. I was perfectly cooked and soooo tender. Gawd.
Then it was time for the show.
The steps were so quick and so amazing, I could barely breathe. There was so much tension in their movements...just the way the man held the woman...his hand upon her back as he lead her around the floor...then, she would pull away and lead him, and with a kick, be free of him for a second, only for him to draw her back and bend her into a daring dip pose. I could feel my heart racing.
So in sync. So beautiful.
Then there was this guy. Two Boleadoras...those things the kid in Romancing the Stone kidnapped Joan's sister with.
He whipped two of them around and used the balls on the end (hitting the stage floor) and the heels of his boots to create a rhythmic beat for him to dance to. Much like a lariat show at the rodeo...but one of the most amazing things I've ever seen.
Then it was time for a moving rendition of "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina." There was a lovely montage of the Perons on the screen behind the singer. It was very well done, and beautiful.
It was a fabulous evening, and one I won't forget soon. Tomorrow, the ranch...and more steak!
